I thought I would write about the start of my crafting journey.
I started crafting when I left work as I was pregnant. I had some time on my hands and so decided to make a cross stitch picture to go on my baby's wall. I found it relaxing and gave me something to focus on. My son was then born and I carried on cross stitching whenever I had the time. I cross stitched pictures and patterns for my Mum and Brother and also cards.
I then started making some decoupage pictures which I really enjoyed. I carried on cross stitching and decoupaging for many years. Then I began a new job and one of the girls introduced me to making cards. Well, there was no stopping me then. We went to many craft fairs and craft shops and even had a card making holiday in Devon where we learnt many different techniques such as iris folding and glass painting.
I found many types of crafting enjoyable and I started making cards for relatives and friends birthdays. This then progressed onto making cards to sell at craft fairs with my friend. We had such a good time!
After quite a few years I started work at another company. One of the ladies there had become a Grandmother for the first time and so I made a card for her and everyone in my department signed it.
Unfortunately, the friend that had introduced me to crafting stopped making cards but I carried on as I enjoyed it so much.
I have made many bespoke cards since then for the people that I work with including birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and leaving cards. It gives me great pleasure to design and make cards for other people.
Here are some examples of the various cards that I have made:
